Officially… he retired!
Practically… we wait for the REAL reasons to pop up!

He will NOT be missed by us as we think he is one of the main actors in the progressive lost of heritage in Tuscan wines.
Let my predict a newfound appreciacion from WS for the “traditional” wines… READ THIS in the meantime.

The Giro d’Italia cycling race stops in Montalcino

Today Montalcino hosted the arrival of the 7th. stage of the Giro d’Italia with a thrilling final mostly run on dirt roads!
Finally Montalcino was featured in the media for a nice reason…
Gianni, back in his best ever physical shape for the recent diet and training, was among the race’s officials on the finish lane because of his role in the local cycling club “Orso On Bike”.
The stage’s winner -obviously covered in mud in this mid May that tastes like November- was the current World Champion Cadel Evans and, funny enough, the rider that took the pink jersey from Nibali is Alexandre Vinokourov (from Kazakistan), a guy nick-named “Vino” (Wine!).
No better guy could wear the pink jersey in Brunello-Land!

Names of the people involved in this ugly scandal are coming out just few days before the new elections at the Consortium. It sounds to us like a bitter kind irony as everything was-is-will be happening way above our heads. Please, be kind and keep supporting the small guys! We’ve been suffering too much because of someone else screwing with this thing!

Is maybe Mr. Suckling to be blamed for all this in first place? Who knows…

We do believe that a blog is one of the best ways to interact with our friends, customers, followers, haters, importers, distributors or people that simply stumbled on this by a typing mistake!

For this too long awaited comeback of us, we waited for something nice (very nice) to tell ya all and yesterday the scores for the most recent Brunello tastings by Antonio Galloni for The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) were revealed with our pride and joy. That’s how we did:

Brunello di Montalcino Le Presi 2005, 90 Pts.
“…reveals beautiful length with just enough fruit to balance the tannins.”

Brunello di Montalcino Le Presi Selection “Muro Forte” 2005, 91 Pts.
“…comes together beautifully in the glass, especially on the long, enveloping finish…”

Brunello di Montalcino Le Presi 2004 Riserva, 93 Pts.
“…impressive in the way it combines elegance with sheer power.”

Three wines and three shots in the Nineties! Now we are talking. Keep the faith in Traditional Brunello and stay tuned for more.
